Sealed-system refrigeration and a heavy commercial-style range are the two pieces of Viking gear we are called to most in Orinda. A Viking built-in keeps the fresh-food and freezer drawers cold in a canyon kitchen off Orinda Way; a Viking range throws restaurant heat in a remodeled home near the Country Club.
We have been an independent appliance-repair shop since 2005, and Orinda sits on our regular Lamorinda route with Lafayette and Moraga. Past the Caldecott the afternoons turn warm, so a Viking compressor and condenser fan work a little harder, and an oven in a closed-up Glorietta or Sleepy Hollow kitchen runs hotter.
This page covers three Viking categories only — refrigeration, the stove and range and cooktop, and the ovens. We carry genuine OEM parts keyed to your model and serial, and quote a clear price before any work. Call (925) 940-3576 to book.
Orinda Sub-Zero Repair is an independent repair company. We are not affiliated with or authorized by Viking, and we are not a factory-certified Viking service center.
Three Viking categories we service
Across Orinda and Lamorinda kitchens.
Built-In Refrigeration
Viking built-in refrigerators and columns — plus the freezer drawers and wine columns on the same platform. We work the compressor and sealed system, the evaporator and condenser fan, the defrost heater and drain, the door gasket, the air damper, and the thermistor.
Stove, Range & Cooktop
Viking sealed-burner and open-burner ranges, rangetops, and gas cooktops. We service the spark module and igniter, the brass orifice and VariSimmer setting, the porcelain and cast-iron grates, and the surface controls.
Wall & Range Ovens
Viking gas and electric ovens, built-in and behind the range. We handle the bake and broil element, the glow-bar igniter, the RTD sensor and calibration, the convection fan, and the door hinge and spring.
Viking problems we fix
Water pooling under a Viking built-in
Meltwater on the hardwood usually means the defrost drain has iced shut. We clear the line, fit a drain heater where the design calls for one, and confirm the water runs to the pan.
Produce freezing in the fresh-food drawers
When the fresh-food side runs too cold, a damper stuck open is letting freezer air through. We replace the damper and adjust the thermistor so both compartments hold an even temperature.
A burner lights but the flame is tiny and orange
A weak, lazy flame points to a clogged brass orifice starving the gas. We clean or replace the orifice and re-index the cap so the burner returns to a full blue ring.
Stove clicks but will not light
Spilled liquid that shorts the spark module and surface controls is a common no-light cause. We dry and test the circuit, install a genuine Viking spark module when needed, and confirm clean ignition.
Oven slow to heat, drifting temperature, loose door
A worn hinge and a tired door spring let heat leak out, while a drifting RTD sensor makes a bake run hot or cold. We replace the hinge, spring, and sensor with OEM parts, then calibrate the cavity so the oven holds its setpoint.

My Viking built-in was leaking water onto the hardwood. The defrost drain had iced shut. He cleared the line, added a drain heater, and showed me the meltwater draining correctly before he packed up. No more floor damage. Came out the same day I called and charged a fair rate.
Produce was freezing in the fresh-food drawers of our Viking. He pinpointed a stuck-open damper letting too much cold air through, replaced it with a genuine part, and adjusted the thermistor. Temps are even across both compartments now. Knowledgeable, quick, and backed the labor for a full year.
My range burner lit but the flame was tiny and orange. He cleaned the orifice and replaced a partly clogged brass fitting with a genuine part. Big improvement, though one burner still runs slightly low. He's coming back to fine-tune it under warranty.
Came home to a stove that clicked but wouldn't light at all. The technician found water had shorted the spark module and surface controls. He dried them, installed a genuine Viking module, and tested each burner. Same-day rescue, fair pricing, and everything works perfectly again.
Door felt loose and the oven took forever to heat. He spotted a worn hinge and a tired door spring letting heat escape. Both replaced with OEM parts the same week. The door shuts firm now and preheats fast. Professional, neat, and honest about what was needed.
Viking repair questions, answered
Are you a Viking-authorized service center?
No. We are an independent repair company that has serviced Viking refrigeration and cooking equipment since 2005. We are not manufacturer-authorized, factory-certified, or affiliated with Viking, and we never claim to be — we simply use genuine OEM parts and know these platforms cold.
What Viking appliances do you repair in Orinda?
Three categories: built-in refrigeration (including freezer drawers and wine columns on the same platform), the stove, range, and gas cooktop, and the wall and range ovens.
How much does Viking repair cost and how soon can you come?
It depends on the part — a thermistor, orifice, or spark module is modest, a compressor or main control higher. We charge an $89 diagnostic, then quote before any work. Orinda is on our regular route, so many repairs finish same-day or same-week; call (925) 940-3576.
Do you cover all of Orinda and Lamorinda?
Yes. Orinda Way and the Country Club, the canyon lots toward Glorietta and Miner Road, Sleepy Hollow, and the village are routine, along with Lafayette and Moraga. Steep driveways are no obstacle.
Different brand? We also cover Sub-Zero refrigeration and Wolf cooking equipment in Orinda.
